We grieve the loss of life – Latter-day Saints leaders offer condolence after Beirut, Lebanon explosion

The Area Presidency for the Middle East/North Africa has extended their sincere condolence to the families and friends who lost their loved ones in the explosion that occurred in Beirut. The explosion which occurred on Tuesday has claimed more than 100 lives and have injured more than 4,000 people.

Following the explosion, it has also been confirmed that no member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has lost their lives.

A statement released by the area presidency on church website can be found below:

On behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to each person impacted by the explosion in Beirut on 4 August 2020. We grieve the loss of life and extend our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who died. We pray that God will bless the injured and pour out peace and comfort on all who are mourning in Lebanon and around the world at this time.
