President Nelson and Elder Cook share important messages on their birthday

President Russell M. Nelson turned 96 years on September 9, 2020. To celebrate his birthday, the prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared an old picture of himself when he was very young.

The message that accompanied the picture was how the Lord has blessed his life and the numerous miracles he has seen in his life. It ended with a “Thank You” message to all who have wished him a happy birthday.

Elder Cook, an apostle of the church celebrated his birthday a day before President Nelson’s. He is now 80 years of age. To celebrate his birthday, his grandchildren surprised him by putting a happy birthday banner at his house.

“Today is my 80th birthday, and I was surprised to find a “Happy Birthday” banner my grandchildren put up at my home” said Elder Cook.

He shared how he has missed his grandchildren and how COVID-19 has not made it possible for him and his wife to be with them. However, he said, “I would have enjoyed spending my birthday with my children and grandchildren, but I am grateful for the opportunities we have to connect in other ways. The gospel of Jesus Christ connects us as families from generation to generation—even in times when we cannot see each other face to face.”
